Description:

Schedule: Monday thru Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30 pm, Occasionally adjust schedule to perform night owl surveys.

Housing: Housing Available (Government housing (bunkhouse) available in Teasdale, Utah. Cost would be roughly $ 6.00 per day.)

Location: Loa, Utah

Overview: Assist the Forest Service District Biologist with the wildlife program in terrestrial species and habitat monitoring, data collection, and data entry. Government Housing is available.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field work for data collection including Threatened/Endangered and Forest sensitive species monitoring and project level surveys.

  • Monitor and provide needed maintenance on wildlife water developments and enclosures.

  • Occasional office work will include data entry.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Candidates must be willing and able to: hike multiple miles in a day in rugged terrain with a backpack, drive 4X4 truck/vehicle in remote locations on Forest roads, have some experience with riding ATV’s.

Qualifications:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to work effectively and independently for long hours in the field.

  • A general working knowledge of GPS units and reading maps.

  • Experience in 4x4 vehicle operation and ATV use.

  • Basic knowledge of bird and mammal identification desired but not required.

  • Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well alone and in group situations.
